SUMI-E
“Dragon” 2019, Ink & watercolour on rice paper.
“Tripdycht”, 2021, ink on rice paper
Sumi-e ink paintings of inner landscapes.
An exploration of shorts dots and textured strokes building up to eroding rocks, clinging vegetation, running streams and forest trees. With a keen focus in spatial relations through changing viewpoints that are boundless and floating, instead of fixed and linear.
Although these depictions of landscapes may not actually exist in real life, these mental images of atmospheric dreams from the individual mind is a reflection of inner resonance, melting into nature.
empty space = Active silence
Active silence is an important composition element that lets the viewers thoughts pour into the space, and becoming one with the creator.
When beauty is found in nature and is looked at with the heart, you are able to see something new every time you look at it.
