“Inside-Looking” Tea & Art Exhibition 2019

The opening exhibition “Inside-Looking” is a two part solo art show and performance that features Asian traditional art forms such as gongfu cha, sumi-e ink paintings and ikebana flower arrangements.

Gongfu cha is a skill used to bring out desired taste profiles of various fine tea leaves. Small tea vessels and other apparatuses are required to brew leaves accordingly. The tea demo consists of a few seats surrounding a table that includes an elaborate tea tray disguised as a miniature garden to hold and pour water onto.

As a host serving a few rounds of tea to my guests, my purpose is to demonstrate mindfulness with others regardless of who they are, being present in the moment and engage in conversations meaningfully within a casual meditative atmosphere.
